The One Song Project
Everyone has a song that means something to them.
Share the Music is collecting the songs and stories that connect people to memories, people, places, and moments in their lives.
Song Archive:
“September”—Earth, Wind, and Fire
“This song was playing at my wedding reception, and everyone ended up dancing to it. Whenever I hear it now, I can picture that night and all of the people I love dancing together.”
“Here Comes the Sun” — The Beatles
“My grandfather introduced me to this song when I was younger. We would listen to old Beatles records together, and this became my favorite. Now I think of him every time I hear it.”
“You’ve Got a Friend in Me” — Randy Newman
“My best friend and I have loved this song since we were little. We used to sing it together all the time, and it has become kind of “our song.” Whenever I hear it, I think about our friendship and all the memories we’ve made.“
Music-Themed Cards for Seniors
The One Song Project is expanding beyond our website through a music-themed card initiative for senior centers. Community members create cards featuring a song they recommend, along with a personal message explaining why they chose it. These cards are shared with senior residents, introducing them to new music and the stories behind each recommendation. By exchanging music and personal messages, we hope to spark conversations, encourage residents to explore new songs, and create meaningful connections across generations.
